Location
The Rio Maior area is part of a region known as 'Estremadura Ribatejo'. The town is situated in a transitional area, where influences from the Ribatejo and Coastline combine, creating a unique enviornment. In total, it spans 277 km2 with maximum altitudes of 500m, save in rare exceptions. Rio Maior is closely located to the centre of the country, only 80 km from Lisbon and 30 km from the mid-country's largest city, Santarém. It is part of the West Tourism Board and administratively, the county belongs to the Santarém District.
Rio Maior is clearly in an area of transition and mixed regional cultures, with “Ribatejano” influences from the south and “Estremadurenha” influences from the north. The county's Northern section is part of the Serra d'Aire and Candeeiros Natural Park's protected area.

Accommodation
Accommodation for swimmers is provided on site and is located at the very heart of the training centre. It is a purpose built facility that allows ready access to all of the training facilities and provides 4-star standard relaxing lounges and accommodation. There are 10 double rooms and 22 duplex apartments with 4 beds each, all this in an extremely comfortable environment, well maintained and with all the necessary services for athletes. Each room has Satellite TV. Recreational facilities include: a Games Room, Internet/email workstations. Sports menus developed for sports athletes ensure a nutritionally controlled and balanced menu for all guests.
